The Universal Law Of Sales (Cold calls, d2d, landing pages, ads, etc)

No matter how you sell, this is how you wanna do it.

If people aren’t buying, there’s something wrong somewhere in your sales process. And I might have the fix for it.

I’ve sold people doing door to door, through ads, landing pages and whatever else you can think of, I’ve gotten a custie through it.

And I’ve realized that when it comes to people to people buying, I use this one process in every sale, and it’s universal. And I call it the new age sales. Because in the day and age we live in now no one likes to be sold too, we all like to feel like we made the decision. So I’ll essentially teach you how to go about selling without ‘selling.’

And I found this out with my business Blue Shine (in person service based) Whenever someone sees/meets someone or a company and they see that their objective is for you to spend money, their instinct is to just scroll, close the door or just leave the situation.

And it’s not your fault if people are doing this to you. We’re hard wired to act like this whenever we sense that someone wants to influence our actions. If someone is trying to make you do something that you had no intention of doing you’d instantly shut them down and even come up with excuses or smokescreens for why you don’t wanna do/buy X.

And the way to get over this and how you need to start introducing your offer is by completely disarming them. For my business whenever I’m door knocking, when the potential customer opens the door I first start off with a “Hey how’s it going?!” and I use emphasis on my tone to make it sound like I actually care. (no one works with those who don’t care about them.) Then I spark curiosity “I think you saw me earlier?? Issa?” then I wait for a response and usually it’s “I’m not sure” “I think I did” etc, and then I introduce myself, then I say why they saw me “All good, I was the one helping the neighbours to do x!”

And by now their guard is down, or at least lowered. they are reacting to me instead of having me react to them. If you don’t have control over the situation (in a good way) the chances of you getting the money is low, very low.

And the best ways to gain control is to spark confusion. Like I try to do with the intro in my script. Another thing I do is I pause the script a lot. I’d say I’m fairly funny so sometimes I’ll just crack jokes or play dumb because if someone is having fun they’re less likely to have their guard up and at this point they’re starting to see the real you. And a big part of why people buy is because of you!/the face of the sale. So try and be likeable by having a sense of humour, taking control and mixing their emotions.

And when it comes to landing pages, ads or copy, it’s a lot harder to do with just text alone so I try to always add a few videos showing a more personable side and a just a visual for the thing I want them to buy. The second thing with copy is that you Really need to spark curiosity and play with emotions because it’s so much easier to scroll than to close a door on a person in front of you or hang up on someone over the phone. There’s less connection involved. One thing that I do a lot is add smiley faces and emoji’s because that shows that it’s actually a person on the other side so it makes you more likeable. As well as writing how I’d speak and not adding too much emphasis on grammar.

That is the first half— getting their attention.

The second half is getting them to buy. And key word is buy. Because no one wants to be sold too, they want to buy through their own accord. And honestly Alex Hormozi does this perfectly, essentially give an offer so good the other person would feel stupid saying no too. For my business, I always throw in freebees for the custies. And it’s things that aren’t too hard or expensive to full fill on while at the same time being enough to make a difference to the buyer.

A general rule of them with a good offer is that it doesn’t mean that you need to lower your price, it could honestly be the complete opposite. What it means is that you lay out the benefits that the custie gets + a guarantee. For us it’s “so at the end you’ll have ___, ___ and ____ “ “and at the end we’ll both check everything out and make sure it’s proper before you pay.”

And the guarantee we use may not work for every business model but get creative, there’s so many ways to make sure someone is happy before they pay. Or if you don’t wanna do that (which is fair) you can say and when you pay you get X guarantee. Essentially be confident in your offer and raise their confidence in you too.

When it comes to giving your offer, you also need to make it super easy to buy, with the pay as well as how they’ll get the product/service and when. Because if what you’re selling can be bought easily it’ll reduce how much they need to think about the purchase in the moment. For example “Ok, I need to wire x $ to this address, then reply to this email and then confirm over the phone and then I get the end result.” Or “Ok I can pay after I get the end result and we’ll ensure it’s what we agreed on by checking it out together.” Which makes more sense??

One thing you need to do as well to make your sale easier is the close. So essentially what you say or have written around the buy button when asking for the sale. For me and my business we keep super simple. I just say “if that sounds fair and you want it done, all I really need is your address?” You can replace address with card number, email or whatever makes the most sense for your industry.

So look at your offer and see what you can implement from this because this is how I’ve done over $70,000 in sales this year my first year out of high school.

All in all if you wanna make more sales or even get your first sale:

  • Gain control over the situation (spark curiosity, have humour, be personable, essentially disturb and disrupt their regular patterns when it comes to making buying decisions)

  • Give an amazing offer (one where they get extra and you don’t lose)

  • Make it easy for the customer to buy (reduce extra thinking and as many steps)
