This Cash Business Made Me $70,000 In 6 Months
Here's essentially how I did it, how to replicate it, or even just some things you can take away.
As easy as this business model is, no one’s done it like I’ve done it. I love my ego haha.
Jokes aside, in this newsletter I’d like to give the essentials of it to anyone trying to do the same as me, anyone doing something similar or anyone who just wants to know some of the business strategies and process’s that I use. Which is window cleaning. Or an in person service based business.
We’ve done a lot of services outside of the window cleaning, like pressure washing, gutter cleaning, lawn services, etc but window cleaning is just what we got most of our customers from and what BlueShine is mainly known for as well as it’s what we made the most money from.
Main reason I’m making this video is actually because I have a lot of ambition for this business, it works and I love it. And in this next year I wanna start licensing/franchising the business model so I kinda wanna just talk about it as well teach the essentials to help myself with learning. If you one day wanna be a BlueShine franchisee and get even more know how than I give in this video, stay tuned in the next few months (jk, I barely planned the role out yet haha.)
Start
I won’t tell the story of how I started because I’ve talked loads about it, so I won’t bore you with it incase you’ve already heard it. instead I’ll just teach and give all the starting info.
I first started out by investing $100 into equipment. You could maybe get away with like $30 start up cost if you just do bungalows and buy a brush, squeegee and a bucket with soap. Most of these are household items so it’s maybe less. Or if you’re a baller like we are now you can buy a $2000 de-ionized system with poles and squeegees and everything.
I’d recommend around $150 in start up cost because you don’t wanna be the broke dude hustling. You wanna be the sophisticated guy hustling.

You could switch the first step with the second step if you’re like super broke but we did it in this order and it worked.
Money…..
The second thing was getting sales. This honestly made me realize that money is the core of every business. Forget customer service, good work environment, taxes and literally everything else until after you have this figure out. Getting money/sales.
For us we did door-to-door because that’s what I had experience in because of my first job. Which was door to door. It essentially gave me a good foundation and it was free to knock on doors so I did it.
I charged my first customer $200 and paid my friend $30 so I had a $70 profit on the first job. Pretty nice. I pay people more now because I lost my old ultra-capitalistic ways which kinda sucks but it’s a lot nicer and everyone is more happy now.
The first day we got 6 sales and I got all my capital back + much more. I was on top of the world. And the second day we only got 2 sales which was kinda bad but I went back to school the next day and I was calling my teachers brokies and s*^t.
That was another important lesson in sales. You aren’t always going to be on top or be a winner. You’ll have slow days and you’ll have amazing days and periods. It’s like that with every business. I should have learned that in my sales days because I was horrible at the time but the high you get from having a successful day blinds you like crazy.
Essentially, be ok with slow days and don’t let amazing days blind you or increase your ego. I had so many ego spikes and dips that year it was nuts.
If you go on my channel and sort my videos by oldest, the first 30 videos were during that first season period. You can easily tell if I was having a good or bad week just based on my voice and the way I looked, sometimes even just by looking at the thumbnails you could tell if I was at a high or a low.
Back on track— Find 1 or 2 main ways to get customers. For us it was just door to door because we weren’t handing out business cards for referrals. (We were also lowkey shit too so no one was referring.)
Today we have door to door, ads and referrals (because we are actually good now:) )
The thing we didn’t have enough focus on in the beginning was the quality of the work. And now we put a LOT more focus on it. And this next year/season we are going to have even more on it…
Because the beauty of this business is that it’s recurring, granted like once or twice a year but it’s still nice getting people to buy again by just sending or receiving a text or email. And the only way you’ll get that is if you give a good end result as well if you were likeable. No one is buying from dickhead morons. So work on your conversation skills and just be fun to be around.
I’ll probably make some in depth videos on how to clean windows in the future but for now I do have a few shorts uploaded on this channel where it’s just me cleaning and that can give you a pretty good idea if you’re new. Or just check out other Youtube tutorials.
Quick recap— see if you remembered everything said so far. (You fricking better have)
What are the first 3 steps?
Equipement
Sales
Good work
Nice.
Workers
That’s essentially the business model. If you want this as just a weekend side hustle, this works and can bring in some nice extra money.
But if you’re like me and you don’t just want a second job then you’re gonna need people to work with you. And I’ve made loads of videos on this so I won’t go too in depth on how to find people but essentially work with people who have a similar mindset to you.
What’s more important however is keeping people. A main thing that helps people stay and actually want to help you scale any business (not even just this) is to have good pay, good incentives, good company culture and ways to grow in the company. Because if someone can make much much more money by just doing it themselves they will. Or if they don’t like you or the other people, they will quit when something goes wrong.
Just try and have a good work environment, a close relationship with everyone and let the few people that wanna do this longterm get good incentives and opportunities. This is one thing I hate about regular jobs, very rarely does the company or boss give a shit about you so I always wanted to make sure that my guys were given a shit about and thankfully everyone enjoys their time with me so for this next season we have a pretty nice runway.
That’s mainly just because we’ve taken care of our team as well our customers. Longterm thinking, just focus on these 2 (honestly for any business) and you’ll be good.
Money 2.0
The last thing I wanna touch on is money. How much to charge, pay, keep and Taxes.
Our average job is $175. We charge $120 minimum and the most I ever charged was $800 for this mansion. With paying the people who work with you, I’d say keep it fair. If you can profit 30% after expenses than that’s pretty good I’d say.
With keeping money, be smart, don’t just buy things and be like “It’S a BuSiNEsS ExPeNsE.” I did that the first year and had no money to show for it. Invest as much of the money you keep as possible into gold, and crypto (because it’s not traceable 😉 )
And put some in the stock market as well as open a business investor account at your bank. It’s like a high interest savings for your business and it’s pretty nice to see it compound. And honestly just having your money diversified into different accounts and different places makes it easier to save and be smart.
So if you just don’t blow your money on garbage and then save/invest the rest you’ll be good.
Since this is a cash business taxes are kinda iffy. My recommendation is to claim ALL the money you make and pay taxes on it all. Because the government is really good! Especially in Canada. All our tax dollars go to really important things and you should pay that 8-20% + in taxes. Your government deserves it!
So don’t only claim what you need to claim and then take full advantage of tax write offs. Because that’s immoral and the CRA (or whatever tax agency in your country) are not legal criminals who blow your money on useless things. Make sure you claim every dollar you make ;)
Last thing I’ll tell is to just keep track of everything. Areas you knock, sales, money, customer info, etc. Because it will help you later on.
I really hope you gained something, be it how to start a window cleaning (or any other service based business) or how to grow an existing one or even just learning some things from me that you can apply to anything.
Thank you for reading and have an amazing rest of your day 🙂
