How to get into workflow (after scrolling)

being proud of yourself is a much better than being happy in the moment

If you knew how to stop scrolling and start working whenever you wanted to you’d be 2X richer by next month.

When you are trying to work on either a project, your business or even work, getting distracted or even putting off work because of Tiktok or just any type of instant gratification tool the media companies are using to control us it just ruins your work period and even the entire thing.

I have a few tricks that I use to just lock myself in. Because I don’t think it’s really a discipline issue for most. It’s either a lack of motivation or you just need certain queues to be able to just sit down and write, or pick the phone up and call or go out and start knocking or whatever it is that is your main goal/work.

So let’s say you’ve already scrolled today and you wanna just get to work. I have a few queues that helped me when I would just be dopamine feining.

  • Shower

  • Go for a walk

  • Work out

  • Drink coffee

Those are some that help me, for you it could be different things, but the main goal is just to do something that gets you away from your phone and then when you finish you come back with a mental reset and get straight to work. Because when you start, it’s hard to stop. So we want it to be hard for us to stop doing the good thing.

After you know this, the next best thing to do is to help yourself early on. So the first thing is to delay it as much as possible, because back when I would wake up and go to the toilet and start scrolling, those are the days I perform the worst in my sales and in my writing or my coaching. But the days where I either just leave my phone on the stand and then go toilet or now when I just skip the toilet then shower and get straight into my day are the ones where I perform best.

Because like what I was saying earlier, when you start something it’s harder to stop than not doing it to begin with. Preventing it is better than breaking the bad habit. So when you wake up do the most simple things without the instant dopamine. For me it’s shower, prepare for work and then start writing. For you it could literally be just starting to work if you work from your computer. But get straight into the flow of it from the moment you wake up.

And some extra small fixes could be to just

  • Delete the app(s)

  • Give yourself/the work more meaning

Because when you pan out and look at the bigger picture, that app does not benefit you. When you think of how long you scrolled yesterday you just wasted so much of your day. And your time is valuable no matter where you are in life.

One thing I’ve realized is that when you have a big goal or something you’re excited about, all you wanna do is work or spend time on that. Like this spring and summer all my focus was on my business because it’s seasonal. And last winter all my focus was on Youtube. By the way it’s almost winter again so I’m gonna go balls to the wall with writing ;)

If you don’t have a goal or you don’t know how to set a proper goal I’ve made another video on this but since you’re reading I’ll summarize the essentials of it.

It’s essentially my old PP system (Purpose over Pleasure) Everything you do will fall into one of the two categories and the thing is that you have control over your life so you need to ask yourself is what I’m doing pleasuring myself or purpose related. And with setting a goal it needs to be something beyond yourself. Like say you wanna get a lot of money, if that’s your goal you need a reason or a “why” and that’s essentially going to be the thing that motivates you enough to stop wasting your time and to just work.

Also kind of a bonus, when you do scroll or waste time, don’t lay down on your bed. Because when you lay down that sends a subconscious message to your brain saying that it’s time to sleep so your brain losses power.

All in all, if you wanna cut down on your dopamine fein activities or regain consciousness and be able to do productive work, firstly:

  • Find queues that help you reset your mental and then get back to work

  • Set your day up from the second you wake up

  • Be conscious, give yourself and your work meaning

I hope this helps you as much as it helped me in my life. Because being proud of yourself at the end of the day is a much better feeling than scrolling to the next post in the morning.

And also thank you for reading it genuinely means a lot to me:)

Enjoy the rest of your day.
